Millions of people worldwide have used the uplifting messages of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale to help them overcome adversity and achieve their life goals. In this remarkable, enriching work, Dr. Peale shows you how you can:
• Solve problems by "imagining a solution" that's already in your mind
• Start a program that will reaffirm and boost your self-confidence
• Build your inner health and vitality
• Use the art of creative anticipation to get what you want from life
• And much more
Drawing on dozens of dramatic, heart-warming stories from people who have transformed their professional and personal lives, Dr. Peale demonstrates his philosophy in action, and shows how it can work for you toda
As a Christian, its hard to look at these books objectively, but hear me out. Christianity has a lot about thinking positively (praying) and loving others. When you're doing those things you are thinking positively, and "thinking you can". I think its true that if you're thinking positively, and you think you can accomplish something, your likelihood of doing so is much higher than if you have a grim outlook. The study about this was phenomenal. So to make my point, many religions bring you to the idea to "think positively" and I wanted to say that perhaps what we call religion may have been so successful due to the fact that they tap into this idea of positive thinking. Peale did point to this topic, and it has really challenged me to think about what I believe. Which is always good.
I wasn't sure that I would like this book because of the cover and I had never read any of the authors material. I guess you really can't judge a book by its cover. I actually loved this book and was able to apply the advice to my own life. I was a very fearful person and my confidence was very low. The more I read this book the more I realized that the way I thought affected the way I performed. Needless to say, I now believe in myself and I am performing well on my job and in other areas in my life.
I was given this book and sat on it for quite awhile before reading it. I had been given many "you can do it" books when I became disabled.
The other day, this one caught my eye as I was watching Dr. Robert Schuller on TV. As he said "You can if you think you can".
That was all it took, a voice from the Television early on a Sunday morning.
I found myself drawn into the book and was finished reading it by Suppertime the same day, it is an easy read as most of Dr. Peale's books are. This is not to say that the concepts presented in it are easy to follow. They are difficult, when you are in a self defeating mind set. Somehow, Dr. Peale manages to release you from that mind set and you find yourself believing you CAN, if you think you can. He also lets you know that it works both ways, positive and negative. IF you believe you will fail, you will. If you believe you will succeed, you will.
I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a boost in their confidence.
It worked wonders for me, a month ago I could not have written this review.
