The best places to meet your soul mate
And advice on creating a loving and mutually fulfilling relationship
This book was interesting. It cannot hold a candle to the original 'Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus' but it is a good book on the same topic.
Dating is age-old fact and it is also true that Men and Women approach dating in different ways and expect different things from a date. I read this book and it was mostly an acknowledgment of things I already knew (thanks to the Men are from ....). I kept it clean though while reading so I gave to my wife claiming I bought it for her and boy did I make a good decision !
She was so glad to get it that I got many many hours to myself going through the HellBoy 2 and Iron Man for a second time. But frankly its a good book for those who are still dating and even those married couple who havent yet read 'Men are...' Tells you a lot about the etiquette of dating and respect the feelings of your date.
Get it, read it if you want but certainly gift it to your girl.
This is one of those books you will come back to over and over, even after you get into a relationship. John Gray clearly outlines the way men perceive dating, compared to a woman's perceptions. Like myself, you may quickly realize you previously didn't have a clue! The tag line on the back says it best, "You don't have to be single forever..." My friends and I always quote our favorite insight: "level one for men is physical attraction", but women don't get to physical attraction until AFTER mental chemistry (level one for women) and emotional attraction (level two). I think the best advice he has for women is to think more about what you really want and let yourself receive it (or wait for it), which I've found to make a hugely positive impact on my romantic relationships. For me it clarified the fact that you can't always follow your first impulses in dating... it pays to learn more about how the opposite sex sees things, and to go slowly through all the stages of a relationship. Highly recommended read!
It has a lot of the information the other Mars and Venus books have, so if you've read them, you already have a lot of the information already. It does, however, have the phases of a relationship which you might not have already been aware of, which can be helpful. I can't say that this book changed my life. The only information it really offers, in my opinion, concerns the phases of relationships.
I don't particularly feel that all of the information given in the Mars and Venus books should be taken as gospel, but it does give some interesting insight into the behaviors of the opposite sexes and some of the information can be useful. I guess you just have to weed through the information yourself and decide what you can use and what you can't.
