Straightforward and honest, Not Now, I'm Having a No Hair Day paints a realistic picture of what it was like for Christine Clifford to discover breast cancer, undergo surgery, and endure months of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Her moments of fear, frustration, embarrassment, love, and joy are captured playfully in 60 cartoons. Cancer patients and their families will readily enjoy a humorous look at a serious subject.
This book is a very humorous look at the author's experience with breast cancer. She cleverly adds great one liners and sentences on the the very endearing illustrations by Jack Lindstrom. This is how she tells story of diagnosis and treatment with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, interspersed with the cartoons. She is honest about the wide range of emotions that strike in this situation, and doesn't mince words about the fear and difficulty of the process, along with its amusing blessings. Most people who have had breast cancer will find this book helpful and entertaining, not an easy task with a cancer book.
