Step one of our Proactiv® Solution daily essentials, this mild, oil-free formula combines prescription-quality benzoyl peroxide with a mild cleanser that gently washes away excess oil and dirt.
I bought this for a girl friend because she always complained about having really greasy skin and that would sometimes lead the acne. She tried it and really didn't like it. She thought that there are better things out there. I know that if you want something specifically for acne that you can get a prescription for stuff that really helps out and makes it go away. I also have heard of such things, but for some reason I thought that this was it. That's why I bought it. I always see the commercials and I bought it because I thought that this stuff would work for her. Wrong. She thought it was fine, but just not what it was supposed to use. Especially for the price
I get occasional pms related breakouts. My teenage son gets some pretty major breakouts. We kept seeing Proactive advertised on the television, magazines, radio etc. Everyone seemed to be raving about how well it worked so I decided to order some for my teen son and myself.
It used it less that a week and it left my face very red, painfully dry and almost chapped. I had a much worse breakout than usual.
I wasn't discouraged because just because it didn't work well for me didn't mean it wouldn't work well for the teenager in our household. He used the Proactive long enough to use up the complete bottle. We saw no major improvement in his facial breakouts. In fact he had quite a few more large breakouts and his skin was extremely flaky and somewhat dry.
I asked him if he wanted me to order another bottle so he could keep using the Proactive, He said "nope because my skin looks worse. " We switch back to antibacterial soap for acne which is very inexpensive and seems to work much better.
I have had horrible acne since I was 13. I am now 28 and have adult acne that is worse than it ever was. I bought Proactiv revitalizing cleanser, in addition to the rest of the acne skincare line, and followed the directions religiously. I tried it for 6 months, and I saw no difference in my breakouts. I did find that the cleanser has gritty exfoliating things in it, which made my skin irritated and red. Furthermore, it dried up my skin in the winter and made it peel, which further aggravated my acne condition. I would recommend you save your money on this. I know a lot of others that have had good luck with it and rave about it, but not me. It's expensive and doesn't produce the results for me.
