I'm a big fan of bars, I think they're a great snack when you're on the go or before a work-out. After reading good reviews for this bar on the Hungry Girl website, I decided to give it a try. I'm a vegetarian and pretty health-conscious, so I was attracted to the vegan and gluten free label. While it's great that the ingredients are all natural, I think that this bar tasted overwhelmingly of dates. This is not what I expected, considering the flavor is supposedly cherry pie. I didn't really like the texture of the bar, it was a little too chewy. Although there were some almonds for crunch, I prefer bars which have crispy rice or oats. The price was reasonable, but I don't think that I will be purchasing this bar again.
I tried this bar and I hated it. I like cherries but neglected to notice that dates are on the ingredient list as well and I hate dates. The bar itself was dry and chewy at the same time. It did not have a good flavor and I really did not like the tacky texture. Its good for you and its vegan and that is all fine and dandy, but if it does not taste good what is the point? I would not recommend this product to anyone really. I have tried lots of really good meal replacement and protein bars and there are much better ones available in the same price range or even a bit lower. I paid $1.49 for one of these and it was on sale at Whole Foods. I guess I would only recommend this to people who just really like these funky bars and dates too.
I was skeptical of these bars at first, because I have found that sometimes organic or vegan food doesn't taste as good to me. I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into one of these chewy and sweet Larabars. I love the cherry flavor as well. It is moist, nutty, chewy and sweet all at the same time. The bars are made out of all raw ingredients, and there are no animal sources to be found in them anywhere. It is low fat, gluten free, and doesn't have any more calories than your typical snack bar. I highly recommend these to keep in your car, in your purse, or at your desk for on the go snacking purposes. It is a great idea to snack on these healthy bars rather than raiding the vending machine or eating other junk food.
