How are you going to snag one if you don't know how to....THINK LIKE A GUY? A dating guide from the E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi, who knows if you want a little piece of his heart, you're going to have to learn to get into his head.
Yes, it's another one of those books (like Mars/Venus) that exist for no other reason than to tell you that men and women think differently, and so can't possibly communicate or be happy because of this huge mental rift. Kind of makes you wonder how the human race managed to get this far without books like these, doesn't it?
This books assumes that all men think alike, and that all women think alike. I don't think I need to mention why this is silly. So the premise here is that women, in order to snag that man, should learn to think like one. Hey, maybe if he wants to keep you he should be thinking like you. But what happens once you've got him and have no desire to put yourself in "Football mode" anymore? Oh yes, there will be problems. Or maybe everyone would be better off if they got over this "I have a penis, you have a vagina" finger-pointing and just have a good time.
I wish there were some redeeming quality to this book, but there isn't. Well, I suppose I do like the way it's laid out. And that's something.
Oh the sexism in THINK LIKE A GUY. It's so hard to ignore, yet if you can, it's a fun book to get as a gift. Definitely not something you would want to buy for yourself, though.
The basic tenet of this book is that guys and girls think different from each other, and that in order to get a guy you need to learn how to think like one. I suppose it might be true to some extent, but it would be better expressed that if you want to get any partner, you need to learn to empathize with them.
If it used different terms, that's what this book would be about. As it is, though, it's just furthering gender stereotypes that don't need to be furthered.
My mom gave me this book as a gift, since she said she wants more grand babies! But, naturally I need to get married first. It's a short read, and a lot of fun! None of the usual tips about using your wiles and trapping a guy with your "assets", but realistic tips because we all know guys are a different universe! This is a great book to pull out before a date! (I do)
This book changed my life. I think every girl needs to read this. I wish I had read this when I was like 15. A friend of mine who is recently married decided to pass this book around work. The book gives you 66 tips that tell you how to think like a guy. It's helpful because guys and girls just don't always think the same. It's not about entrapment or fooling them, it just helps you ease your mind and not go crazy with worry wondering why he hasn't called you back. A few tips on the back cover are: Don't be a finicky eater, Don't obsess over babies and puppies, Never admit you've slept with more than five guys, Avoid celebrating every occasion, and keep your family out of your fights. It's hilarious and very easy to read. I read it in a day! Seriously girls, you need to read this book!
