If you are considering weight-loss surgery, you are not alone. Obesity is the most common chronic disease in the U.S. today, affecting one out of every four Americans. In this indispensable resource, Dr. Louis Flancbaum, one of the world’s foremost experts on weight-loss surgery, takes you through the entire process, from presurgical evaluation to postop care. You’ll find everything you need to know to get the most out of the latest groundbreaking procedures available that can radically improve your health--and your quality of life.
When I seriously started researching weight loss surgery as a personal option, I had a lot of questions. And I mean, a lot! Before I met with my surgeon, I bought this book so I could learn all I possibly could from a doctor's point of view. I ended up highlighting this book until it essentially turned into a big yellow blur.
My favorite thing about this book is that it's very easy to follow and understand, and it answers a lot of basic questions and concerns that people have when starting their journey (like, how long will I be in the hospital, how much will I eat after surgery, etc.). I ended up handing out several copies of this book to family and friends that wanted to simply learn more about what I was going through. It's a wealth of information, and it doesn't sugar-coat anything. It tells you about all the bad things that can happen after surgery, as well as the good ones. It's definitely a good book to have on the shelf before surgery.
