One of life's most delicious pleasures is luxuriating in a bath filled with healing herbs and soothing scents. But a long soak in the tub can do much more than cleanse your body. It can have a healing effect on your mind, heart, and soul.
The recipes in Water Magic are designed to take away everything from an aching heart to aching muscles. The combination of herbs and water can relieve the common cold and ease uncommon amounts of stress. Drawing on the unique properties of aromatherapy, herbology, and homeopathic cures. Mary Muryn explains how a careful blend of ingredients can turn a simple bath into a magical healing experience.
I actually used to talk trash about this type of medicine, but after seeing its effets I love it! After being hit hard with college and more work than I had planned, I quickly learned what it was like to be stressed 24/7. I was willing to try anything just to calm myself, or get some of the edge off. Its amazing the effects that can come from simply taking a bath in aromatherapy style water. I learned that these methods of therapy were moreso an experience that you use to get your body used to being calm. After being stressed for so long, I had no idea what being calm felt like! Thats exactly what this book did, was help me find out what it felt like again. Thats the best way to explain it.
I actually borrowed this book from the library, but then I had to extend my time with it! Then I just wrote down half of it in a notebook. This book has amazing meditation practices, and excellent tips for different types of aromatherapy during bath time. It's great to start out with an energizing day, or end a stressful day on a high, peaceful note. If only everything was so simple, right?
I have had this book for years. I first heard about it via a new age catalog that I got in the mail. I got it from the library and new I had to buy a copy to keep. Do not let the title scare those of you who may have issues with the word "magic." This is not a true magic book but rather a book of meditations and bath recipes to help heal the mind, body, and spirit through aromatherapy. I have used many of the recipes in this book but my favorite bath recipe is the one for stress/headaches. Each recipe calls for different essential oils and herbs to be added to your hot bath water. You can also do the meditations that go with each recipe, but its not necessary to reap the benefits of the aromatherapy to do them. If you have the ability to relax, the aromatherapy will do the rest for you regardless of whether or not you chose to meditate. I would recommend this book for anyone who is truly open to trying holistic practices. They really do work and you will find yourself turning to this book for all sorts of mental and physical ailments.
