Joel Furhman is a physician and former Olympic skater. The ideas in his book are common sense and practical ... and surprisingly easy to follow.

Weight loss, disease prevention, health ... they can all be found in a nutrient dense, plant based diet, according to Furhman. I'd have to agree. I read this book a couple years ago and, following the advice, I lost about 25 lbs in a couple months.

This is one of those books I love to loan out to friends. Some people don't want to hear about a plant based diet, even if they are having a great deal of health trouble. But for those to are open to a plant based diet, this has been really well received. My mother in law lost 30 lbs, and I've had friends lose anywhere between 10 and 50 lbs follow the lifestyle advice in this book.

I think it's a great resource. If one follows Furhman's program, improved health seems almost guaranteed.
