This heavily illustrated book provides 165 exercises to develop greater flexibility, stability, fitness, strength, and power at the body's core. It explains how to perform each movement for best results and outlines training programs specifically for fitness and sports.
This is a reading laying around the physical therapy clinic I work at. Because our patients tend to be older, core focus is what we are usually after when it comes to these patients because the strenthening of the core of your body helps to increase your overall mobility. The book is helpful because it is self-sufficient, as anyone can find a workout plan that suits them individually. If you don't like a particular exercise, there are plenty more to chose from! I use some of the exercises as well, because I am an avid weight-lifter. Also, for people like me who tend to accumulate all there excess fat around there mid-section, this is a great resource for keeping that area firm at all times.
I found this book while searching for exercises to alleviate chronic back pain. The book presents a wonderful and very persuasive description of why core muscle strength is so important and how it's related to back pain. The book presents many exercises, groups of exercises, and workouts that are geared to various levels of fitness. I was very skeptical about embarking on such a comprehensive exercise program, but the results I attained in the first week, then two weeks, and so on - convinced me it was well worth the effort! I would recommend this book for anyone, but especially those that suffer from back pain. I have adapted some of the workouts based on my abilities and have achieved wonderful results!
