This book is right on time for the post dot-com investment frenzy. Dr. Center-Shabazz has created an easy-to-understand and easy-to-read book, which thoroughly explains the importance of changing your thinking, to change your life. Read her story, about how she became Ms. Financial Savvy. She explains how to think in terms of becoming debt-free and budgeting in order to organize your finances.
Want to know how rich people stay rich? they plug the holes in their pockets! I think the best part of this book is the author. Her spunk and excitement for money management really is contagious. The most exciting book about paying off credit card debt and diversifying stocks I've ever read! I think her point on the dot-com bubble was brilliant. When investing, invest in things you know, and things that MAKE SENSE. The trading on the dot-com bubble didn't make sense because a lot of those companies didn't even have a business plan! They just told each other that they were worth what they said they were and people paid for it because the Internet was a big unknown. Great book, easy to read, Dr. Shabazz is very entertaining!
I won this book from Dr Lois Center- Shabazz in a contest. Dr Center-Shabazz has a can do attitude that shines through the book combined with her own real life stories and strategies makes it a fast paced read. It was very enjoyable and informative, explaining the basics for the beginner in personal finance. I really enjoyed the plain English explanations on what different investments are available and the question and answer selections she include in the book. They way she explains the facts of the different retirement, college, and other investment strategies make it a lot easier to understand and decide which is the best plan for you. There are exercises that you complete to test how financially savvy you are that are not long. What I really remember is her “get it, grow it, and keep it” philosophy. I definitely recommend this book for everyone to read as you create a budget to become financially savvy and learn to live within your means.
