I really liked the recipes in this book. My wife bought this because we are trying to be healthier and I was a little skeptical and thought that the food would be bland and taste like diet food. I have to say, though, that everything is very flavorful and it's really great to use even though we're not doing the Weight Watchers program. Also, what I really liked was that there is not only point sysem information, but complete nutrition information about each recipe. SO, no matter if you are counting calories, carbs, fat or whatever....you know what you are eating. Also, according to my wife, the recipes are not hard to fix and a lot of them can be made from pantry staples. A++
I love cookbooks and am always on the lookout for a new one. I ran across the Weight Watchers cookbook and thought it would surely have some great, healthy recipes and I was right. I am not doing Weight Watchers, but that's what I really like about this cookbook--you don't have be doing the program to use the cookbook. Even if you aren't using the points system, the cookbook offers all the nutritional information for each recipe. I have made many recipes from this cookbook and can honestly say that the food I've fixed from it doesn't taste like bland diet food at all. It all tastes great. This is a great cookbook for someone who just wants to switch to some lighter cooking, as well as those who are following the Weight Watchers plan. HIGHLY recommended!
I love Weight Watchers, I really do. I do the program and count the points. The one thing I don't like is how plain the food tastes. I consider my self a pretty good cook, but you do anything of these recipes and eat it, you can tell that they just seem off. It's not that they taste bad and that's the problem. People will eat it and say, that doesn't tastes bad, but it doesn't taste good. I find that I'm able to create healthy meals that are full of flavor that are low in calories.
I do like the book though, because for people that are used to cooking or thinking that they can't make healthy meals taste good, this will help. I just wish it did more on the research end for the best recipes.
I asked for this cookbook for Christmas because I have family members who have been successful with Weight Watchers, even though I have never joined myself. I was hoping that the cookbook would be my easy way to weight-loss success. It has really changed the way I cook, from great tips to knowing what spices go well with which foods. It is very easy to follow and has a great variety of dishes to choose from.
I do have to warn that the recipes are not really for beginning cooks or people who don’t have a lot of time to spend on their meals. There is a lot of “prep work” for these meals. I have also found that either I have to eat the same meal many times in a row or I have food that gets wasted. But the majority of meals I have made taste pretty good and they make it easy to stick with the WW points system.
I am lucky enough to have a close friend that works for WW. We trade healthy recipes and often cook together for our family gatherings. We often use recipes from this cookbook and even when we tell the kids - "No this is the diet dessert for the moms" - they still want it! They know it will taste great & not like normal "diet" food. I like the fact that they use normal ingredients for most of the recipes, so you don't have to make an extra trip to the store for things your don't have on hand. This is a great resource.
I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for a great, healthy cookbook. Usually I sip on a latte and sit in the bookstore's cafe flipping through a stack of cookbooks, trying to debate which one I will get the most use out of. And this one, even though I'm no longer a Weight Watchers member (though I gave it a shot, way back when), I found that this cookbook is really useful.
I don't go by the "point" system, but I really appreciated the fact that this cookbook has all the nutritional stats for each recipe.
Actually, my favorite thing about this cookbook is that everything I've made from it doesn't taste like diet food. It tastes good! Like, real food. I find that mostly I stick to the appetizers/snacks part of the book, because it has lots of great dips and finger-foods for guests.
I think that this is a great cookbook for anyone wishing to cook light, and not just for people following the Weight Watchers plan.
I like cooking, especially Italian food (that is my specialty, wink, wink), but if you don’t live in Italy or make really smart choices you could end up with an easy extra five pounds on the wrong knight. I found the Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook to be helpful in getting off a few extra pounds without starving or revving up your workout by an extra half hour. However, maybe that style of cooking is not me because if the recipes did not turn out just edible they would be reasonably tolerable as far as my taste buds were concerned. I would only really recommend Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook if you need to lose weight and only want to change your diet a little and do not mind sacrificing your tongue. Nevertheless, as I said it may have just been my cooking abilities showing themselves outside the realm of Italian style meals.
This book is full of delicious, healthy recipes. You will be able to eat healthy every night of the week, year round. It's not just about counting calories, but more about making healthier choices. Not only you, but your whole family can eat healthier when you prepare the simple meals in this book. Comprehensive and educational, even the novice cook will be comfortable with this book.
A dear friend of mine who has been a Weight Watchers member for a few years gave me this cookbook as a gift. I'm not a member, nor am I on a "diet" but I do try to serve dishes that provide healthier options for my family and that's what this book offers. There are great recipes for every occasion that are fun and easy to make, taste great, and you'll know you are doing something good for your family by serving them. We have found lots in here that my kids can help make, too! I seriously recommend this book to anyone who wants to make some great meals that are better for them.
My mom bought me this cookbook for Christmas, knowing that I don't "belong" to weight watchers, but I do count points (Sort of, I'm an erratic dieter). I love this cookbook. Not only is the food much tastier than some of the previous weight watchers cookbooks, but it's stuff even my 2 year old will eat! And I'm sure you can relate, 2 year olds are PICKY about healthy! The book probably isn't the best for solid weight watchers members, it's more flex foods than core foods, but they are yummy! I know I use it a lot for entertaining, so my desserts are good, but not unhealthy good. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone as a cookbook, not just weight watcher members!
