Vegan.org by Vegan Action

VEGAN ACTION is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (FIN# 94-3224024) dedicated to helping animals, the environment, and human health by educating the public about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle and encouraging the spread of vegan food options through our public outreach campaigns.

Our efforts over the past 10 years have allowed us to introduce a vegan logo to certify vegan products with our Vegan Certification Campaign, begin a campaign to introduce humane organizations to veganism with our Humane Outreach Campaign, bring vegan food into schools nationwide with our Dormfood Campaign, and share the compelling ideas behind veganism with thousands of people with our McVegan Campaign and other tabling events.

This is simply a great organization. They are non-profit and their goal is to educate the public about how veganism helps not on the animals it saves, but also your health and the environment at large. Their site will teach you how to go vegan (something that I am trying to do), what veganism actually is, has links to current news related to their campaigns or issues, and also links to donate to their cause or shop for items that supports their organization. As someone who is trying to go more and more vegan, this site has helped me a lot. Its given me resources for information on more meat substitutes, dairy substitutes, egg substitutes, etc. It has also, through its campaigns link, made me aware of the fights that activists are really fighting and allowed me to support the ones I agree with. I would recommend this site to any person who is looking into becoming a vegan, like me, or is already a vegan. It is a great site and it really speaks to me. You can also sign up for email alerts here.

On first glance, you might want to write off VeganAction.org as another PETAesque, over the top animal-rights foundation. It's understandable- calls to go vegan on every page, details of the horror of factory farming- all of these things abound.

But while both are unapologetic in their promotion of veganism and their commitment to the better treatment of animals, Vegan Action is undoubtedly more level and less sensationalistic than most PETA material.

Vegan Action provides a brief definition of veganism, and why it is, to them, an ideal lifestyle, but much of the site is dedicated to people who know the facts and either want to make the move to veganism, or become activists in their own right.

The nutrition section is well organized, holding a lot of information in one place, from how to get B-12 to what exactly you can replace eggs with. For those who want to get involved in the animal rights movement, there are resources to reach out in your own neighborhood, as well as to support Vegan Action directly.

A nice, comprehensive site.
