My aunt has MS. She's been slowly declining for years and years. As one of her primary caretakers, when I saw THE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS DIET BOOK, I knew that I'd have to buy it to at least give it a shot.
Let me tell you straight out, this book will not work miracles. There is no miracle that will make your relative with MS perfectly healthy again. I'm sorry, but it's true.
A lot of things can make MS worse, though. I'm talking about worse beyond the natural progression of the disease. One of those things is the diet of the person with MS. THE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS DIET BOOK goes through the different types of foods that could be affecting you and what you can do to eliminate them from your diet.
It's an amazing book, and I've read it over and over again for ideas on how to help my aunt. I'm sure you will too if you buy it.

His life style and food habits took a U turn after reading the book The Multiple Sclerosis Diet Book written by Roy Laver Swank.I think every one after attaining forty years of age sholud follow the diets recommended in this book for a healthy life.My friend has accepted the challenge and making all efforts to lead a normal life and this book is his bible.I think apart from MS victims this book should be helpful to those people who suffers from cholesterol and other common heart diseases I recommend this book to every body irrespective of their present health condition because prevention is better than heath.I am owning this book and follow the advice of Swank in letter and spirit to stay away from unwanted guest like MS.
I have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis for 4 years and although it has been progressing quicker than desired, I know that a good diet and exercise is vital to people who have MS.
Unlike a lot of books written for MS patients, this book written by Dr. Swank was well written and researched and scientific evidence supports his theories and ideas.
As with other diseases, we all may know how to cook healthy but when affected by chronic illness sometimes your body starts demanding other things or vice versa, there are things you no longer should have. It's not only about eating healthy, it is about giving your body what it needs to perform as well as possible. Some MS patients will never improve yet a good diet can slow progression and maintain your general health. This book is a must have for all those with MS. Take it from someone who lives with the MonSter daily. Very recommended!
I consider this book essential for anyone looking to use dietary methods for controlling Multiple Sclerosis. The reasoning and research behind the diet is explained, as well as how to fairly easily implement it into daily life.
This explains the role of fats in the disease process and distinguishes between fats and oils. Cutting out the harmful fats and using oil instead is made easy.
It turned out that I didn’t have MS. But reading this book gave me a great deal of comfort while I was waiting to find out. I’ve since recommended it to many people who either have MS or are having symptoms.
This book is a must for anyone who is afflicted with MS. I read it shortly after I was diagnosed and have closely monitored my intake of fat ever since then.
This book is unique because Dr. Swank provides empirical data of MS patients who followed this diet. He gives background as to how he came up with his diet theory and explains why he was confident that it would work. He also provides a chart of supplements to take and menus for daily living. The last part of the book is filled with healthy recipes that can make your transition to the diet more easy and feasible to follow for the rest of your life.
This book really opened my eyes to the relationship of fats to disease and has helped me differentiate between bad fats and good fats. I believe that this has been key in helping me control my MS and even if you are fortunate enough to be in good health, this book can help you maintain that health. It's important for everyone to know how to choose the healthiest food for their body and this book is definitely a great teaching tool to help you learn how to do that.
