Do any of you ever feel like you were born to do something? Whether or not you are doing it now, or doing it for a living or just as a hobby or whatever - is there something that, when you do it, you think, "Man, this is why I am here, what I was born to do."
I am not a mother yet (will be in a few short months), but I have always felt like I was meant to be a mother and raise and care for children.
What about you?
I know I was meant to be here for the man I ended up marrying. I have never seen or heard anyone having such a childhood as him. Instead of going the opposite way and ruining his life, he joined the military and made something out of himself. How many people do you know that have done the same? When I met him, I found my purpose in life. It was to protect him. I promised to never let him feel unloved, unwanted, or unappreciated. We have one of those marriages, that the people around us envy us for. And, I couldn't be more happier about it. Every since we got married, our lives have been pretty amazing. We are truly happy.
I wish I knew! I feel like I was born to do something specific, but I'm just not sure what it is yet. I don't think I was meant to be a mother (to anything more than my dog, anyway! I love my dog), but I admire everyone who feels that way. I always thought I was meant to write--but writing doesn't pay the bills! Heh. I've changed my major so much, I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever figure it out. Maybe one day!
I think, like many, that I was born to impact the world in some way. I think everyone hopes to and I really hope that I can.
Yes, I think we all have been gifts by God. I think most women are born to nuture and raise children, in some way or another. I have seven children by birth, and have recently adopted three more from the foster care system. Life is wonderful!
I have always liked to think that there was a purpose in my life, and have spent quite a few years in search of it. But I have recently come to the conclusion that there is no natural given purpose beyond the biological one, which is reproduction. So to make my life meaningful, I set goals that I want to achieve. These are not the goals that I was "meant" to accomplish in life, but rather what I would like to accomplish. Right now, I am studying pharmacy and want to be a pharmacist. I don't think I was meant to be one; I just decided to be one because it was something I enjoy.
Yes, i do feel like i was born to do something, and so does everyone else. We all tend to look for some meaning to our lives. But there is one saying that i read some time ago " The desire to be extraordinary, is a very common desire. But to relax and be ordinary, that is truly extraordinary."
I haven't found what I was born to do, but I have found what I wasn't born to do. For me, that usually involves some kind of less than pleasant experience. Maybe after I try out everything I'll find the right match! Have fun being a mom!
I have had the feeling that I was born to something. Sometimes it feels like I'm on the brink of a great thought, something earth-shattering like E=MC2 (even though I am not a scientist by any means) but most of the time I feel like I was born to observe, and somehow perserve a chunk of the world how it was when I was in it. And I think that's kind of what the other people in this discussion feel too, through their children? It's a legacy thing.
I've also felt like I was born on the wrong planet or in the wrong time, lol. Sometimes people are just that alien to me.
On a related note, I've often thought that the point of all life is to try and leave the world better than it was when you found it. Which kind of goes along with this thread.
i wish i could feel that in my life. but sadly, i don't know WHY im here yet. but who knows what the future may hold. im sure ill find my spot in life one day.
I'm the same way. I feel like I was made to be a mom. My life is enriched by my son, in every way. I want 8 more children, and that's completely serious.
I felt I was born to do something good. In the past I thought it was to have the career I had, working overseas and helping people in underdeveloped countries live better lives. Then I believed it was to be the best mother I could to two boys. I never even thought I would have children but it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.
