I have far too many shoes. But at the same time, you can never have too many.
I'm in denial if I think the problem is lack of closet space?

No one cares what's on your feet. This is an unhealthy addiction - -your frearful or something. Buying shoes is better than snorting blow though but if you need more then 3 or 4 pair you have to rethink your life.
