I'm starting to build a successful career as a science writer, writing about science for the general public, but what I really want is to write fiction. I’m already started to chafe from the constraints placed by editors and word lengths. I want to freedom to create something completely from scratch, completely from my mind. I have so many ideas for stories to write. I’ve almost finished one short story, and I really need someone to read it over, someone with experience writing fiction who can give me some constructive criticism and help me turn it into a real story. I’ve been looking around the area for someone to help, but I don’t want to take a class on writing fiction, I’d rather just work with someone one on one.
I'd like to find an experience fiction writer who could give me some feedback on the story I've written.

Perhaps there's a writer's group that you could check out in your area. It's likely that you'd find someone experienced that wouldn't mind reading your work.
In a past life, I worked as a reader/script analyst for production companies and literary agents here in Los Angeles.
I'd give you whatever virtual feedback you were open to and that time allowed if you get desperate.
Good Luck!
I actually did find a local writer's group, but I couldn't make their last meeting. It's a group of something like 30 people, I imagine they break up into smaller groups, but...I wonder how productive that would be. I tend not to thrive in groups, I'd rather work one on one with someone. But I suppose I shouldn't discount it without giving it a try.
One thing I've learned in life is that simply showing up, is half the battle.
Perhaps, there'll be another loner like you who feels the exact same way. You two could dissent, run off together, and start making wonderful...fiction.
