Congratulations! You survived the holidays, and made it to
the new year. Do you know what January is known for?
Although more wedding engagements happen annually between
Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day than at any other time of year, there seems to
be another, much less romantic trend as well at this time...
That's right - breaking up!
It's like we all reevaluate our love lives at the end of the
year, and if we're not happy loving the one we're with we decide to "hang
in there" through the holidays, only to swing the ax after the "ball
drops..."
In January this trend is more likely than usual, especially
at the beginning of the month.
This is mostly thanks to the tense combo of Mars being
retrograde in Gemini exactly opposite Pluto in Sagittarius the first week and a
half or so...
So, if you're considering dumping your sweetie, or are concerned that you may
be given your romantic "walking papers," this is a good time to go on
a love campaign to see if you can transform things for the better.
At the very least, see if you can put things off a bit, 'cause any emotional
confrontations are sure to be extra hostile and painful at this time.
So, how do you launch a "love campaign," you ask?
Relationship study after relationship study all say the same
thing - one person can dramatically alter the dynamics of a twosome, even if
the other person knows nothing about it and is making no effort.
By just one person being positive and coming from a loving place, their partner
will be inspired to as well.
Studies also show something truly amazing -even emotionally
violent couples stay together as long as they maintain a healthy ratio of a
minimum of five to one good interactions to every bad...
Isn't that crazy? So, if you're in a relationship that's
heading for the rocks, just by making an improvement in your number of good
interactions vs. bad, you can save the day.
So try expressing some appreciation, offering a compliment, reaching out for
more physical connection... You may just witness a miracle!
Speaking of physically connecting, Venus is in the sensually frisky sign of
Scorpio until the 19th making this a good time to launch an entirely different
kind of "love campaign."
Wink, wink...
The first weekend of the month is especially pleasurable as the Moon joins
Venus in the sexy sign of Scorpio on Friday the 4th where it stays until the
morning of Sunday the 6th.
All despite Mars and Pluto doing the Mambo...
So if you're single, be sure to take a chaperone with you on
any new dates, and lock up any leftover New Year's Champaign or you may do
something you wish you'd waited until at least February for.
If this all sounds too exhausting, then focus on work. Despite your holiday
hangover, January starts off powerfully for career goals, as the Sun is with
the planet of grace and blessings, Jupiter, in the successful, expansive sign
of Sagittarius until the 15th, getting a nice boost from Mars.
This is a motivated, high-energy combo that should uplift
and inspire your success on the job.
So hit the ground running with projects and plans, and try
to launch any new products or services before mid-month.
By the second half of the month, tensions should be calmer.
Venus, the planet of love and romance, joins the great "good guy" of
the solar system, Jupiter, in Sagittarius the 20th of the month, where it stays
until February 13th.
Jupiter expands and elevates whatever it influences, making this a lovely time
to heal love issues in a powerful, enlightened way - or to meet someone new!
Rebound, anyone?
But be careful, anything you may think you've left behind
early in the month may come back at the end of the month.
Why?
Now, what always brings back any unfinished business you
have that you're trying to sweep under the rug?
Hmmm, what could it be?
That's right - just when you finally recovered from the last
time, Mercury is going retrograde again on the 29th until the 18th of February.
"Again?" you cry. Yes. Mercury goes into Retrograde four times a year
for three weeks at a time - which is why it seems like it sneaks up on you just
as soon as you catch your breath from the last time.
When Mercury goes into Retrograde it's commonly when any
issues in relationships thatare unresolved come roaring back. Especially having
to do with communication!
So, if you think, "I'm not jealous
anymore...""He's not angry anymore..." "We're past our
money problems..." this is when you find out you're as jealous as ever,
he's angrier than ever, and your conflicts about money are at an all-time high.
Which is why, when Mercury is in retrograde, couples often
fight or have misunderstandings. Why? Mercury snaps any weak links in your
"love chain" to force you to correct whatever isn't working.
Unfortunately, he typically does this by getting your
attention.
And he gets your attention by making things much worse
first... So, if you've had progress in an area, Mercury comes along and says,
"Oh yeah? Are you sure? Are you really sure? What about NOW?" Things
typically get much more sensitive and frustrating in whatever areas need some
good old "recalibrating."
Once you realize where your "weak links" are, you
can address and fix them, leading to greater breakthroughs and progress than
ever before. This ultimately allows you to finally get over your jealousy, his
anger, your money problems, whatever, making the drama all worth it in the end.
Whew!
But buckle up - this Mercury retrograde is extra powerful
because Mercury is in the sign of Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn. And all
this month and until early May, Saturn also happens to be retrograde, causing a
little "double retrograde" action.
So, get ready to dust off any old conflicts (and business
projects, by the way) to be revisited and ultimately improved.
Do you see why you'd better add a little "love campaigning" to your
New Year's resolutions?

Thanks for the insight...this is great...I'm going to plan out the entire month of January according to the stars.

Jan 4-Jan 6: Find a hot date and stay in-doors all weekend. No chaperons allowed!

Jan 1- Jan 15: Work extra-hard on my career. Found my perfect assistant yesterday and today we began to put all my ducks in a row/ organize and outsource the mundane, so that I can spend more time on creative visionary-type endeavors. We're on Operation Independence mode till the 15th.

Jan 20-end of month: Find a rebound relationship but cool it before mercury goes retrograde.

Thanks, I loved this post! :)

Carol, I just love this post. Some people aren't fans of astrology, but why discount it?

I recently read that 2008 is the Year of the Rat, which means a year of possibilities. It is also in Earth, so any ideas have to be practical and grounded.

I have lots of ideas of how to move myself forward this year, I will be taking your advice as well as the Rat into consideration when making my New Year plans..
