When people meet me, they sometimes wonder if my unusual first name has anything to do with feng shui. The quick answer is "no." But my career as a feng shui consultant is just an extension of who I am, as a perpetual spiritual seeker. I received the name "Kartar" when I was just 18 years old, studying with an East-Indian Yoga teacher at the time. He liked to give his students spiritual names to remind them of their destiny.

Kartar is actually a very common Punjabi name, a Sikh name. Don't get me started on organized religions, which I am no longer part of. But the name stuck. It's a good one. Kartar means "the doer" and it is a reminder that God (or however you like to call the Creator of the Universe) is the Doer of everything. This is a perfect name for A type personalities who need to be reminded that they are in fact, NOT running the show. A greater power is running the show. I think.

And that lends itself to a further discussion about how much control we really have in our lives. Who or what is running the show? There are many coaches, teachers, motivational speakers and healers on this site who are quite enthusiastic to share with the world their wisdom and experience. And one of the goals of this site is to remind people of how powerful they are in controlling their destiny.

I believe the mind and the will is very powerful. But I also sit right along other predictive arts practitioners in realizing that as powerful souls, we made a contract with ourselves--long before this current incarnation--to learn certain lessons in this life time. And some of those lessons have been or will be painful. My job is to help lighten that load and make it easier to get through those life lessons. There are a lot of ways to grow: from the words you speak, the food you eat, the thoughts you think and more.

My job is to help people learn how to harness and channel the energies around them that they do have some control over. Feng Shui involves your physical surroundings and then in turn, those balanced surroundings can change your destiny and your perceptions and attitude as well.
