A part of my life that I'm proud of is deciding that I will keep myself healthy and fit and enjoy my body through all life circumstances. There have been several turning points that challenged my dedication to this bigger committment: having knee surgery, and being pregnant. Against odds, I stayed active and continued to run after my knee surgery - though I did change the way I worked out, I was still more active than others who had gone through surgery, and the same goes for my pregnancy. These turning points were crucial becuase I knew that if I could stay true to my committment during those times, then I would really not have an excuse to not keep my committment during less stressful times.
As I coach others toward doing what they think impossible, it matters to me to know what others' turning points are.
What was your turning point in becoming and staying fit?
My turning point to challenge myself to stop smoking was realizing that I was never really going to know myself if I kept smoking - I kept having a cigarette each time I had a feeling and that the way I could really know myself was to know what I was feeling in each moment.
I think the turning point was that I decided that I was worth knowing! I started to care about myself and see how much I mattered, and it made it ridiculous to keep smoking!
