Like to gamble? Love to go to Vegas? If you have answered yes to these two questions, then you probably have left Vegas not so happy on one of those trips. In the car or on the plane back home you run the scenarios over and over. "I should have just stopped when I was so far ahead". "How could the dealer hit 21 five times in a row?" "What are the odds on rolling a 3 every time I picked up the dice?"Then you remember, the casinos have the advantage.
There is a built in win factor in these so callled games of chance. For every person who leaves with an extra grand, there are 5 other guys going home with way less than they brought.
Well on Superbowl Sunday, the tables turned. Caught in the hype and hysteria of the Patriots perfect season, the vegas sports books were forced to offer some great odds if you were betting on the Giants. 4 to 1 on your money for the Giants to just win, no point spread! When the clock ticked off its final second, (after the 1 sec silliness), Vegas started having that familiar feeling of "what the f*#@%!!!
When it was all said and done, Vegas had to pay out $2.6 million dollars to its patrons! Shattering the old record of $400,000! Think of the casinos hittting their ATM's to cover their markers, kind of nice isn't it.
Just wanted to share this with the rest of all of you who have felt worked over by the odds and the casinos on your previous trips to Vegas . It's nice to see Vegas give back!
Yeah - I totally shoulda, coulda, woulda taken the points on the Giants but got sidetracked and forgot! Urgh! Of course, if I had actually bet on the Giants, they would have lost! At any rate, it is amusing to see when the bookies have to pay out! I guess that means really stingy slots for the next year!
