WHERE DID IT ORIGINATE?
Every great culture has a "version" of Feng Shui, but Chinese documents and practices date back thousands of years. The Taoist Naturalist School observed nature and noted how cyclical and predictable life is (as in weather and seasons, etc.) Part of the knowledge of traditional Feng Shui comes directly from the I-Ching, which is a profound book that has been utilized for centuries to give insight into the perfection and sophistication of the universe. Original Feng Shui practitioners were meterologists and astrologers.

IS IT RELATED TO ANY RELIGION?
Although some spiritual paths incorporate the beliefs and practices of Feng Shui, it is not a religion, but rather a natural science.

WHO HAS BEEN TRAINED IN THIS FIELD?
Until recently, Feng Shui was a secretive and mostly oral tradition passed down from Teacher to student in a very limited, reverent discipleship. Interest in Feng Shui has spilled into Western culture, initially wherever there may have been an Asian influence. Popular fascination with Feng Shui has brought much information to the surface, especially through New Age channels. A small number of authentic Feng Shui Masters are now sharing this knowledge with westerners.

WHEN IS FENG SHUI USEFUL?
Feng Shui can be useful at any stage of building design, siting structures on land, construction time cycles, looking at new property to purchase or evaluating existing property. People who are interested in knowing the potential impact that the environment may have on them will enlist the services of a Feng Shui specialist.
