Right now, I am sitting by a guru.
No, not THE Wayne, but my friend and client Wayne C.
Wayne is my teacher today, although on paper, I am his teacher and coach.
Wayne is in his early sixties. He works at an entry level job at a hospital. He's never had the opportunity to go to college, travel to exotic lands, or score big financial success.
However, Wayne is a happy guy.
He started a college prepartory program and is learning that he can learn well! In fact, he is top of our class both in effort and performance.
Wayne was afraid when we got to Math. Now, he does extra Math homework for fun.
Wayne's hands shook when we had our first computer lesson. He'd never touched one before except to dust it.
Now, Wayne can surf around the internet and create documents. He still needs some reminders about double clicking the mouse, but he is getting better every day.
Wayne is teaching me that it is never too late to learn new things. He is empowered and believes he can succeed in community college next fall.
Before, he thought education was out of reach for him. He made me realize how blessed I am to have access to education whenever I want it.
Wayne taught me to look deeper than age, job class, and outside appearance. He is a scholar at heart, and now he knows it.
A quieter Wayne than the famous one...one with a humble lifestyle that fulfills him....one with a dream in his heart and courage to make it happen.
Thought you'd be inspired by his story.
Love and blessings,
Lynne
