Walk with your heart forward

Try walking around with your chest jutted forward, and shoulders back. It may feel awkward at first but it's actually a more natural pose. With your heart in front of your head, your body is more centered. The way we move around in our bodies is often the way we move through anything in the world. Try it out and bring some balance back into the moment.

I wasn't aware of this until I got a massage and the therapist said that my head was way in front of my heart due to working in front of the computer for so long. Also, fellow topic coach Chuck Allen mentioned that we relate to people on a heart level much more than a head level. He said this is because brainwaves are small in the power of their frequency, whereas the heart has a massive movement and beat to it. Therefore everyone around you subconsciously picks up more on the frequency of your heart than your head.

Great Post!

Yes, I totally agree. Besides being a coach, my other life is as a massage therapist and I can't tell you the number of people that have been on my table who were already well on their way to having what some call a dowagers hump and all of the physical stuff that can go along with this posture.

Your head is forward, and often hand in hand with that, your gaze (depending on where your computer screen is) is also not looking out at the world. How often is your head tilted forward working your Blackberry as you merrily text away.

Ever watch Julia Child? I loved to watch her. She was and is one of my favorite chefs. And after all of those years of leaning over a counter and looking down into her pots and pans and crepes, and soufflé’s she had a real hump going on.

In addition to walking with your chest jutted forward, there are some other things that I have used that have been helpful because massage therapy is another profession where we are looking down and have to watch where are shoulders are.

I use an exercise ball, the large inflatable ones, green for those that are looking for size, and after making sure it is inflated for my needs, I will lay on it, my back on the ball and let my arms gently fall to the side. It just opens up my whole chest and upper back.

If you are in doubt about how to do this, or concerned about proper back care, go to a health care professional you trust who works with these balls and ask them how to do this.

From the heart perspective and heart based living, there is this.

HeartMath http://www.heartmath.org/research/research-intuition/The_Resonant_Heart.... says this:

(The) Heart Field: an electromagnetic field produced through the heart that can be detected several feet (away) from the individual.

Wonder why you can walk into a room and 'feel' something is up. You've likely just entered the heart field of someone and your heart knows how to detect this.

You can feel their field and guess what? They can feel yours.

Another good reason to be in the moment, aware of your thoughts, focus, and intention, and lead from, and with your heart.
