I was visiting a friend of mine the other day and her two year old. Her little boy is not only handsome but he radiates love and joy. He is lit up and actually illuminated from within, as he smiles, laughs, giggles or even hides his face in him momma's leg. I noticed the difference in her as well. She seemed calmer and more beautiful than I have ever seen her. She looks younger now than 4 or 5 years ago when we first met. She has shed what was covering up the glow inside of her. We all learn to cover. Experiences teach us to be quiet, sit on our exuberance and tamp down our natural effervescence. Have you ever seen someone who you thought seemed "beaten up by life" or watched as a person who once stood tall and proud, starts to bend and slow down the older they get? How does that happen? Could it be from the wear and tear of ideas that are not very uplifting and supportive becoming dominant? I've seen this happen in working with people where we uncover and lift off the old ideas that are creating stagnation, illness, aging and excess weight. The you you would like to be is always there just like a sculptor seeing the finished work of art in the slab of marble. You can uncover the true you. The you that you are most happy being and the life you most want to be living are always right there waiting for you to step in. You get to shed the old habits and patterns of the idea of who you are and toss out what is in the way of you shining like my friends two year old. It isn't hard, but it does take perseverance! What are you waiting for? Finally shine. Now is a perfect time.
Hi Susan,
Nicely said! Even for people who don't have a radiant "two-year old" who can help them illuminate and uncover their "true you," you describe a very nice path of self-discovery for them. However, like you point out, "it does take perseverance!" To quote NBA coach, Phil Jackson, "the best way to realize your dreams is to wake up!"
