Last week I worked with Christine Cole and her horses at Full House Farm. It's an incredible work that she does. You don't ride the animals. Instead, you interact with them to experience what it means to really own something, to believe in it and step out with complete confidence, knowing it's yours.
The horses are a great feedback loop because they only understand the energy you put out. I know this sounds a little woo-woo but when you see it reflected in an animal that could run you over if it really wanted to, it's powerful stuff.
On the surface it seemed like a simple exercise. I focused on a spot under the horse, claimed it as mine and moved toward it.
It was immediately apparent when I was 'making up a story' and letting it become my truth. If I was the least hesitant as I approached the horse, she wouldn't move. Something as simple as the thought "I hope this horse will get out of my way but what do I do if she doesn't?" impacted me and my ability to move ahead. That horse ignored me and I was stuck.
However, when I believed the horse would move and approached her in complete confidence, she stepped out of my way. I got to the point where she kept moving as I kept claiming my spot until we moved around the ring at a trot. And that's when the real magic happened.
I stopped. The horse turned and then walked to me. I made room for her to share my space. When I turned and moved away, she walked quietly alongside me, turning when I did and staying by my side. Christine pointed out that real power isn't about dominance. It's about opening a place for the other to cooperate with you.
So, what's your story? What's keeping you from your creative work today?
However you choose to manifest creativity - writing, art, gourmet cooking, parenting- it's about believing in your vision completely and inviting others in to experience it with you. Creativity gets us talking and provides a way to cooperate with each other.
That's creative light and power. By shining a light on what you believe in, you generate power in your life, AND you invite others to do the same in their lives.
