Each year, my partner and I choose a sacred place as a spiritual destination/retreat. In the last 15 years, we've made pilgrimages to Egypt, Sedona, Tepoztlan, Bhutan, Santorini, Oaxaca, Teotihuacan, Palenque, Nepal and many other sacred spots. These experiences iare magical. They involve the opportunity to enter a contemplative state to see what is possible in our lives. Having the ability to see reality from another point of view, from another level of consciousness, helps my partner and me gain clarity, open our hearts and helps us to make healthier life choices. We've made friends through our travels who share the same desire for spiritual community as we do. These connections are very special and transcend culture and politics. We work hard on these spiritual journeys and retreats but we also have great fun, play, laugh a lot and enjoy ourselves. Each one adds a new dimension to our lives and our relationship.

You may be far from "home," but there is global spiritual community that calls many places home.

CLoomis,

Thanks for your post. My company leads pilgrimages to sacred sites around the world each year - to many of the places you mention in your post - and this will be the first I am joining them to India at the end of 2007. In fact we will be taking in the new year in India.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with another sacred traveller.
