Recommend this? YES NO

I have used this wonderful all natural, herbal sweetener for the past three years and absolutely love it! It can be bought in your local health food store and just a tiny bit goes a long way. I highly recommend the liquid glycerite form over the dark liquid or powdered. NOW brand is the one I use and have found is the purest and has no aftertaste.

Stevia is a plant from Paraguay. It has zero calories and tastes great (in the glycerite form). It's all natural and doesn't cause the blood sugar spikes like refined sugar and even sugar substitutes. This keeps your hunger from triggering. Some early research shows it actually lowers blood sugar. The FDA has been somewhat ambiguous in it's endorsement of Stevia. It can be sold as a supplement, but not a sweetener or food additive. All of the research I have read on Stevia has been very favorable. Do your own research on the web. There's loads of information out there.

I too have used Stevia -- for 7 years now as a sweetener, in beverages primarily. It has properties that unfunded studies have shown stabilize blood sugars for some diabetics. This is of course not a substitute for medical care of this disease, but it is one of the wonders of this marvelous sweetener.

My wife brought stevia home...and recently used it to sweeten some lemonade. I noticed a weird after taste, kind of like splenda. Not really my bag. Also have been cautioned - do not use stevia to sweeten your coffee: it makes a strange reaction.

i personally love stevia. i use the liquid version, which i think has less of an aftertaste than the powder and seems to be less processed. the reason for the aftertaste may also be that stevia (pronounced stee-vee-ah) is 250 times as sweet as sugar or something like that. so a little dab will do ya. less is definitely more with this one, and i find that 2-3 drops are ample.
