Plan to spend at least a 1/2 day in the park.

Bring some snacks along with you.

Bring a journal, a writing/drawing pad, or even a camera to capture the sites.

Stay put, it may feel weird if you've never sat in a park for over an hour, but you never know what you may see or experience, so give it time.

Often times we forget to look around our own neighborhood and take in all that is around us. Spending an afternoon in your local park can re-connect you to your neighborhood and you can make new connections while your there. Plus, if your a people watcher (which I am) you really get to see some amazing things happen among and between other park-goers!

Many cities have not only parks, but lots of other interesting tourist attractions. Sometimes I pretend I'm a tourist in my own city for a day. I live in Washington, DC, but often visit family in NY and LA where this practice works very well.

It is so funny how often you take the nearest destinations or activities for granted. I often realize that half of the summer passes and I have not gone to the beach.
Many of us living in Los Angeles forget about the fact that even though we do not live at the beach it is only a few short miles away.
Every time I go I feel great afterwards, I just wonder why I forget about going there? Got to remember to do this!!!
