This is a classic CrossFit workout: Three, five-minute rounds. Each round consists of 1 minute for max reps of Sumo Deadlift High Pulls, Box Jumps, Push Press, Rowing Erg, and Wall Ball. At the end of each round you get a 1 minute rest. The whole workout lasts 17 minutes. So I woke up this morning anticipating the workout - and actually slightly buzzing and anxious. Like I used to get the day of a big adventure race. I had no trouble sleeping, but when I got up, I was immediately in "race" mode.
About 10 minutes before my heat began, Dave Leys finished and scored a whopping 417! Sean brought his score sheet over to me and asked me to confirm the numbers. Ordinarily, my math skills (though no "Rainman") are pretty good, but 10 minutes before the FGB, my body had already entered The Zone... blood had left my brain and organs and was flowing to my extremities and muscles - Fight or Flight had begun. Adding up those numbers was literally IMPOSSIBLE! I attempted it like 5 times, and finally gave up - just couldn't do it!
My scorecard:
Sumo Deadlift High Pull: 28 / 25 / 25 - 78
Box Jumps: 40 / 40 / 40 - 120
Push Press: 30 / 30 / 25 - 85
Rowing: 17 / 14 / 15 - 46
Wall Ball: 25 / 21 / 23 - 69
Total: 398
This is my best score by far EVER! Last year, I scored a 343. Just a couple weeks ago a 357... and then today - unbelievable! Thanks to everyone for being there and cheering and creating such an incredibly inspiring environment. Rodney - you were a GREAT scorekeeper/coach - knowing exactly how to count, when to push and when to back off - thank you! Can't believe I only needed 2 more reps of something to break 400!
