Safe Diet and Exercise Tips

Don’t believe the hype about losing five pounds in a few days or deleting an entire food group from your diet. Anytime you go with the “diet of the month” or the latest fad, you are just asking for failure. Why? Most of these fad diets only take one food group or one body type into account. Just remember, it really isn’t wise to eliminate something like carbohydrates completely from your diet. Sure, people want to limit them and try to manage their weight this way. But honestly, you have to stay on top of counting with every meal or else you may slip! And, it is very easy to gain weight if you don’t stick to it! Quit trying to take the easy way out and balance what you eat and your activity.

For example, the American Heart Association warns about following plans like the “Cabbage Soup Diet”. The National Health Association warns against the South Beach Diet. By now, you’ve likely heard about the dangers of the Atkins Diet as well.

So what is the safest way to diet and exercise? First, you have to realize that there is NO QUICK FIX. You must adapt a particular lifestyle that balances the right food choices and activity. You also must realize that what is right for a friend or relative may not be right for you. A successful plan is one that is tailored for you.

There are many sources to find information depending on your situation. The best place to start is with your family doctor. This person knows your health and can help you find nutritionists and other professionals that can help you reach your goals. Don’t try to go it alone. You can get information to supplement what you learn on sites such as WebMD, Yahoo! Health, and even CNN. Just remember, find what is right for you and not your coworker, sister, or neighbor. Just because you watched your brother lose 50 pounds by eating nothing but soup for two months, don’t fall for it. Watch what happens when he tries to eat “regular” meals again.

This is the biggest joke I have ever heard. How can anyone believe that there is such a thing as psychic ability to asses exactly what foods or exercise would be best for an individual? Exercise and food are both somewhat medicinal. There are specific exercise prescriptions and food guidelines that are given to patients by professionals who have an educational background and expertise. These professionals will typically take a thorough individual 0health history of the patient they are counseling. Even entertaining the idea of asking the advice of a psychic to establish food and exercise choices over a registered dietitian, exercise physiologist or cardiologist, etc. is ridiculous. The key words people will submit to with this psychic service are good for your body, cheap and fast. These professional services can be costly so the fact that this psychic service offers it up for $20 and generates results quickly is too good to be true. For the zillionth time if it's too good to be true, it's not!
