Whether you’re out for a good time or hoping to start a lifelong partnership, dates go wrong.  There’s nothing worse than being stuck in an out of the way location with a strange date and no graceful way to get out of it.  The good news is it’s easy to avoid the date-from-hell scenario with a sound plan.

The easiest way to set an upper limit to a date is to schedule it during the day.  Lunch only lasts so long.  Afternoon drinks can be cut short for evening engagements.  Day-date until you feel comfortable enough.  (To end an evening date super quick, just say to need to administer pet meds.)  Always line up your own transportation.  Either drive yourself or plan your date for a place on the bus line.

Whatever your plan, make sure someone always knows where you are and who you’re with.

The laundromat could be fun. And if you can get him to pick up your coffee... well played!

Better yet, meet your dates at different locations whilst running errands. For example, if you have to go to the post office on your lunch hour (which is a 45 minute line- easy), have him meet you there with your Starbuck's order. . . Ok, I haven't actually done this yet, but believe you me, I've thought about it. . . You could also have grocery shopping dates, laundromat dates, and pedicure dates. . . Even if the date sucks, at least you've accomplished something on your to-do list, right?

The worst date I've ever had was one where I was stuck on a first date with this guy who was driving me crazy! The only conversation he had involved how much he was worth and the next luxury car he was planning on buying. I wanted out! But he had taken picked me up and taken me to his place for dinner. I was stuck!! So I went to the bathroon texted my friend and told her to bail me out. SHe called me promptly with a hysterical tone that he could hear, saying that she needed me to come home immediately. He took me home and I sent him the polite, "thank you but I'm not interested," e-mail the next day.

Always Drive Ladies!!
