New Year Celebrations

Every year, when the first of January rolls around I make a list but it doesn't contain my resolutions. Rather, it's a list of celebrations.

The only rule I set for myself is that it must contain at least 50 things I'm celebrating from the year just completed. Some years I have to reach way back to find enough to fill my list. And other years I blow past the 50 mark.

The point of this exercise is to remind myself of how far I've come, what I've accomplished and then take the time to celebrate. Too often in our society we wipe the dust off our hands and say "What's next?" without ever appreciating what is in front of us.

My list contains some big stuff - like completing my coaching certification this year. And it also has small things on it such as re-arranging my bedroom so that I look out at the lake when I first wake up in the morning.

What's on your list?  Did you take any steps to find your creative purpose this year? No matter how small, write it down and celebrate!

And if you find yourself unsure of the answer, how about a resolution to to claim your creative purpose and get it on your celebration list next January 1?
