I've been having a great conversation with Amanda about Buddhism and sharing parts of my path, and a recent post led to my sharing about dowsing and my families experience with it. This led to Amanda asking me in her most recent post if I defined myself as a modern day witch.

I had to smile at that, because I do honor the earth based and Goddess traditions, but no, I do not define myself as a witch. I am more eclectic and do not claim any one particular path as my sole domain.

Modern day mystic, sage, or wysewomen better fit. I honor all traditions and find myself moving along the path of a mystic. Years ago I picked up the book Ordinary People As Monks And Mystics by Marsha Sinetar and I would have to say that was the first book that spoke to what I was feeling, and have felt since I was born.

It has been a lifelong path journey. In more recent years others have spoken to the path, such as Caroline Myss and her books, the most recent 'Entering The Castle'. I've always had a hunger to know the Divine, I remember this place, can feel it in the still inner quiet. I've been blessed with gifts (which I did not always see as such) and that has been part of my path.

So witch, as it relates to honoring all beings and doing no harm, respect for the earth yes, but really, I am the mystic, the sage, the wysewomen, the healer.

Coming to understand my place in the world has been, and continues to be an ongoing process. My path is an ever evolving process. These days I am studying the Dharma, the Goddess traditions, and my Native American heritage.

My line includes Iroquois, Irish, French, and English. Makes for an interesting mix, and it has flavored my journey and gifts. My business is called WyseWomen. Honoring the wisdom of the path, whatever it looks like. And women in the plural, because I do not walk this path alone. We are many in our wisdom. And that does not exclude mens wisdom. I just happen to work more specifically with women.

How about you? Is there a bit of the mystic, sage or wysewomen in you?

What a rich and varied line you come from!

I'd think that the challenge for a you as a wysewoman would be to blend those energies that stem from an old, "earth-based" world with our contemporary world and its scattered frequencies. The main difference between these two opposing worlds are their values.

Would you agree? If so, how do you think those values differ?

Thanks for running with this Nellie, I can't wait for more women to get on the Goddess Train.

Oh, and I've definitely had my mystic-moments under a new moon;)
