Last summer, I visited one of my guy friends in London. After he hauled my suitcase up to his room, I unpacked and took my bath and hair products to the bathroom. I was amazed by what I saw therein.
He had more skincare products, shaving gels and tonics, lotions, moisturizers, and hair products than I had at home. He had so many products, that I asked if he had women visitors over regularly. "No. Why do you ask?" I pointed out the surplus of Body Shoppe et al supplies. He said they all belonged to him.
He then sheepishly admitted that he gets his back and the tops of his toes waxed (TMI) and aromatherapy sessions. It took every ounce of self-discipline I possessed not to collapse into a laughing fit. I wasn't judging his efforts to look his best. I think it's commendable. I like to look my best, why shouldn't he? It's just that I thought only "metrosexuals" followed these kinds of regimens. This guy does not in anyway come across as a metrosexual. He's an accountant for goodness sake.
I learned that men have just as many hang-ups, insecurities, and anxieties about being attractive to the opposite sex (or same sex) as women do. It was actually kind of endearing.
