Recommend this? YES NO

One of the more popular topics of discussion during this time of the year is how we plan on improving ourselves over the next 12 months. In other words, what are our new year’s resolutions? Well, if I had to choose just one piece of advice for those really wanting to enrich their lives in 2008 it would without question center around living life with purpose. Yah, yah…I am pretty certain you have heard this before but it is true. If you really want to make 2008 the best year yet, focus on living more purposefully.

So how exactly does one find their purpose? Simple…start by realizing that life is not about you. Do not worry it is not about me either. It is about using your God given talents to help others. Why is this so important to living a fulfilled life? It creates balance. Today’s society has a way of keeping us focused on ourselves and can even fool us into believing that the more we acquire over our lifetime the happier we will be. Not true. Do not get me wrong, it is very much ok to want nice things. I do! However, it is entirely different to think that setting and accomplishing goals of this nature will always result in happiness and/or true fulfillment. It doesn’t.

You see, I believe that God created each of us with an inherent need to give. In other words, it is the way we are wired. This is why it feels so good to help others. One last thing to remember as you ponder the past and dream about the future is that in life there is no actual point of arrival. It is a journey. So do not be in such a hurry to get to the finish line. Take time to smell the roses along the way. You’ll be glad you did!

Happy Holidays!

Great perspective.

I often times think it is either one or the other, I either help others or help myself, when in reality, the best advice is to have a win-win situation.

I do want nice things and I want you to have nice things to.. hey, maybe we can help each other achieve nice things and then share.. :)

happy holidays.
