The Magic Number

Flew from JFK to San Diego this morning. Was a pleasant trip, the weather here is beautiful, and I'm excited about the big week that's ahead.

Of course, none of that has anything to do with baseball, but I'd be lying if I wrote that I wasn't bummed that the flight took place during the final game of the Mets/Marlins series. Thankfully, my team pulled off a big win and after a little help from DC, the magic number is now down to 5.

A make-up game from a rain-out from earlier in the season... against the team that knocked the Mets out of the playoffs last year. Something tells me that's going to be a special game and the perfect remedy for any jetlag I may be dealing with.

As I said though, I've got a big week ahead, and don't want to get ahead of myself. At the end of the day, it's really not that important if the Mets make the playoffs. But taking a few moments each day to ponder the unimportant is underrated...
