Leaving Los Angeles

I want to be on the East coast or in Western Europe. I like the change of seasons. I miss my friends and family. I miss the clarity of the East Coast. I miss people who don't sugar coat and distort reality; just straight up neuroses, please. I want to see the autumn foliage and I miss my dog, my cashmere, my tweeds, and my shearling boots. More importantly, I need a break from all this sunshine.

No thanks. I know what I need to do and the wheels are already in motion.

How can anyone leave the palm trees and stucco cottages and ultra green lawns? There's a beauty in every place. It's a common pitfall when relocating to spend one's time pining for a faraway place and miss the opportunity to enjoy the unique joys of the moment.

...and American Airlines is running a special through October 3rd. Just heard from my friend in London and I can stay with him. Cheerio.

Thanks, Laura. Enjoy autumn in New York. There's nothing better.

I moved to California nearly 4 years ago and still can't part with all my sweaters and wools from living in Minnesota and Colorado! Oh and turtlenecks too! But I live in northern CA where we can wear these things and have some more sense of seasonal changes, including my favorite thing about autumn, leaves falling from the trees.
