With summer fast approaching it’s hard to try to get into shape in a snap if you haven’t been working at it - not to mention quick is not the best method. The most important thing to remember is to avoid anything that promises a quick fix or rapid weight loss for the summer. Come on, you know this is not the answer! Haven’t you been paying attention? The only way to get fit for summer is to get fit for every season. Why not start now?

If you’ve been a couch potato or cube jockey all winter and spring, start slow. How slow? Slow enough not to hurt yourself but rigorous enough to make a difference. Take some walks at your lunch hour or after work. Start small and build up in distance. Also, cut down on seconds and dessert. Make a habit of eating less and skipping dessert more times than not. Don’t forget to keep hydrated and get plenty of rest! Don’t overdose on water and stay away from sodas and other sugary drinks.

Yeah – these suggestions are common sense and just baby steps to getting fit. Sometimes we have to be reminded and we all need to start somewhere. Make a commitment to start your fitness routine now, the last minute before summer.
