I have a lot going on. I am getting married December 24th in Israel so I am planning a wedding 10K miles away, planning an engagement party in LA and NYC. Work is hectic (good) but very busy. I also help some other companies in my spare time - SO I am running from thing to thing with little time to breath. When I am in that mode I find it hard to keep the spirituality of my faith. I still do stuff, but I lose the feelings - which defeats the purpose.
Anyone have strategies on a) breaking down complex tasks into bite size pieces and b) ideas on things that keep you going when you don't have time to reflect?

It's not the easiest thing to do. Yet, it's the most effective when life is as chaotic as you describe. Just when you feel as though you have no time to stop thinking, is precisely the right time to do so.
Try short, 5 minute meditations right before going to sleep and right before waking, when your body is most relaxed. Concentrate on the inhale and exhale of your breath, follow it, with nothing else in mind. If a thought arises, take it in with, "that makes me feel good/bad" then
watch it float away, and return to your breath....return to you breath...have faith in that.
Keep doing that and things will seem to flow more effortlessly and you'll have plenty of time to breathe. The "feeling" that you speak of is found in the stillness of your mind, in the gap between your thoughts. Expand that gap and you'll come up with strategies that work best for you, as you already know how to break down complex tasks.
Best!
P.S. Squeeze these methods in during the day and you'll get even more things done without having to run around. Also, keep a small book of spiritual reflections handy and pick it up whenever you're burned out.
Hi JNS,
Like you I have a lot going on all the time. Parent of 2 kids who are both in theatre and sports, my own continuing education, building a business, writing two books, etc. etc. A great tool that I got from my training at Coach U was the 10 daily habits. I made a list of what I need that helps me stay connected to body and spirit and made those things nonnegotiables that I do every day. I get up really early, before everyone else, and do what's on my list first. If it starts to feel like a burden, I look at ways of changing the practice to keep it fresh. Then I can just sort of "touch" into these places for a moment during the busiest parts of my day, just for a moment,. and that is enough to bring me back to who I am and what is important.
Here are a few things on my list:
√find and send my list something that inspires me (poetry, song, etc.)
√good morning to spirit/body/mind
√ recommit to personal vows
√ check in to see where I am
√notice what I’m grateful for
√revise and or recommit to daily intention
√walking meditation or yoga
Hope this is useful.
