As my schedule has become more hectic, fuller, and taking on new responsibilities, I've recognized the need to incorporate the four natural elements in my life: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. I am on my computer about 8 hours a day, live in a great high-rise with a view of the Chicago skyline, and often forget that which brings the greatest nourishment is nature. This doesn't mean that I need to spend every weekend in the woods - which would help - but that I can bring Mother Earth's elements into my life. I am seeing this in a new way as I use "fire" to keep a candle lit in my office, remember the scent of the earth with fresh flowers or potted plants around my home, use the water of a shower or bath to replenish me in addition to scrubbing myself clean, and remember that I stay alive through my breath - the element of air - as I take deep breathes throughout the day.

...or water trickling at all, (except from a tap) is one of my favorite sounds.
