With people spending so time at work, and companies encourages the mix of personal and professional life, the old taboos against office romance are outdated. So if it’s okay to mix and mingle with colleagues, what are the rules? It goes without saying that you shouldn’t let a relationship with a co-worker affect your job performance. Keep safe with these additional tips.
Know the Policy – Make sure you know your company’s written policies on inter-office romance, as well as any unspoken rules. The boss’s opinion may not be in writing, but it counts for plenty. If it’s worth losing your job over the hottie down the hall, plan accordingly.
Cube Cuddling Forbidden –While you can use your judgment about how public to make your relationship, affection of the I’m-so-into-you variety should never be displayed at work.
Beware the Break-Up – One thing an office romance will do is teach you how to break up with grace. You pretty much have to remain on good terms with your ex. Can you handle it? If you’re the cry-into-your-coffee type, think this one through very carefully before starting something new.
Note to cheaters: If you beloved is supposed to be-loving someone else, that person will find out. And when they do, then your ethics come into question. Worth it? Not!
