In order to maintain your health, it really takes one word – commitment! Seriously, many seem to find the path of least resistance the way to go and their health suffers for it! It is not as hard as you think; you just need to understand the importance. I’ve fallen into the lazy trap myself on many occasions. Once I get back on track, I am so happy and I feel great!
For example, I once had a job that I needed to get to around 7:00 am and it took about 45 minutes to get there. I simply woke up around 4:30, drug myself to the treadmill, exercised 30-45 minutes, showered, ate, and left. Granted, I have my own gym equipment now but this has not always been the case. In college, I woke up early and got outside for a brisk walk for 45-60 minutes. When I lived on the beach, I walked in the sand for more resistance. When I didn’t live on the beach, I put on my inline skates for an hour every morning. At each juncture, I found a way to keep my health as a priority. Playing sports, swimming, walking, weight training, surfing, etc.
“But I can’t get up that early.” “But I don’t have time.” “But I have to…”
All I have to say is that you have to decide what is important. If you really want that one hour of sleep or those larger size jeans – go for it. Please just don’t complain to everyone else that you wish you had time to exercise and eat right.
Yeah – eating right – everyone has time to eat right. Seriously, if you have time to eat then you have the time not to shove sugar-laden, processed garbage in!
Just remember – you CAN do it! So often we see friends and relatives (and maybe even ourselves) develop a health issue that could have easily been prevented. Stop making excuses and just get it done! I would bet that many of the physicians and health experts here on People Jam would be happy to give you advice and suggestions. So what are you waiting for? Turn off the computer, get off your duff, and get moving! Now!
