If you are a mother you know that those who made you one usually haven’t a clue how to celebrate your big day. After the homemade cards and breakfast in bed, they may actually expect you to cook for them and make sure they have clean underwear ready for Monday morning. When it comes to Mother’s Day, it’s best to take matters into your own hands.

First – Figure out just how you want to be celebrated this Mother’s Day.

Second - Tell everyone who owes you homage exactly what you want them to do. Make that list and check it twice. After all, they owe you’re their lives.

Third – Give back. I’m not talking about scrubbing grout or shouting out bacon grease. Tell your kids how much they mean to you because they really are the best gift of all. Better yet, put it into writing!

PS – Don’t forget about your own mother. Because nothing will spoil your day like a bitter serving of guilt pie!
