Depending on what your ultimate goal is, there are different
ways to build your endurance. For
example, I had a goal to work back up to a certain speed on the treadmill. How did I do it? The same way you build endurance for just
about anything – push a little harder each time until you reach the goal. The same works for weight training, swimming,
and any activity which requires physical exertion.
Of course, endurance can be mental also. For example, if you need to stomach watching
dull movies with the one you love, practice makes perfect. Start by watching small parts of their
favorite television shows that you can’t stand. Move up to hour-long shows, and finally a movie. For example, if you are tying to work up to a
romantic comedy and this is not your thing try these steps: First, watch “How I Met Your Mother”. Start off by just catching the end or scenes
online. Next, try to sit through an
entire hour of “Desperate Housewives”. You can also work yourself up to this by watching online clips. Then sit
through a “rougher” romantic comedy that is more palatable. Try one of Adam Sandler’s such as “50 First
Dates” or “Mr. Deeds”. Be careful, you
might actually enjoy these. Next, watch
clips online from the real films of the genre. Make sure they are more recent and ideally starring Reese Witherspoon or
Kate Hudson. Finally, sit through an
entire movie like “Just Like Heaven” without stopping the DVD. Afterward, you are all set to go check out
that premier of “Made of Honor”. Good
luck with that.
How do you build your endurance for goals or unpleasant
tasks?
Haha great ideas for building endurance although I felt personally under attack because I love "How I Met Your Mother" and, after watching "Enchanted" four times in one weekend, have every intention of seeing "Made of Honor." I don't know, maybe I should have posted this anonymous under confessions.
