The Hail Mary pass is exciting
to watch at the end of a close football game. The team that’s behind
desperately throws the football as far as it can toward the end zone hoping for
a miracle catch that will win the game.
The play almost never works, but nothing else has any chance at all. While our lives seldom face a deadline like
the end of the fourth quarter in a football game, maybe a few Hail Mary
actions would be effective in achieving our dreams.
Our biggest dream can be achieved if
we identify it clearly, take personal responsibility for making it real, and
initiate the necessary actions. The
dragons of change will focus our attention on a problem or obstacle, encourage
us to talk about it at length, and have us expect someone else to do something
about it, or hope it will go away by itself.
But only action will produce change when we are not achieving the
results we want. Sweet victories and happy days do not come by
chance. We may be disappointed if we
fail, but we are doomed if we don’t take action.
I think that sometimes prayer can motivate a person into action and that other times, prayer can leave one resigned to an outcome, any outcome as somehow being the will of God.
In this context, words like destiny and fate become harder to pin down. Personally, I know that faith and action, combined, is the winning play that always works.
Thanks for the post!
