The labyrinth guides us to answers. The answers are within.
Last weekend I took time for myself, and went to the Galilee Centre, to rest, relax, reflect, and rejuvenate. R&R&R&R. The beautiful Chartres labyrinth called to me to walk and to find answers to my questions.
Each time I walk a labyrinth, I hear messages that help center me and give me guidance to continue on my path. I have a journal where I keep these messages and guidance from my labyrinth walks. Reading on what I’ve written, I hear the same messages, over and over: Be in nature. Slow down. Relax. Be.
Often, we look outside of ourselves for answers. We look to others to help us resolve issues, whether they be health related, personal or professional. The answer is within us, if we would just honour ourselves, and look. The answer is often so simple! If only we would stop, ask and listen.
I walked the labyrinth 3 times over the weekend. Each time, I had a question or intention. First, I wanted to know “Why am I here? Where am I going? How do I bridge the gap?” The answers came gradually: I was at the Galilee Centre, to slow down, and relax. I’m searching for my identity, a life-long search. I get there by following my emotions: when I feel good, when I feel joy, I am who I am. Another message came, as a bonus: Be in nature more, in the city less.
Second, I wanted to know “How can I improve the success in my career, my business, being self-employed?” The answers reminded me of what I already know, and yet I haven’t been practicing: Visualize what I want. Connect with my values. Take inspired action. Another message came, as a bonus: The answer is simple. All answers are inside.
Third, I wanted guidance on how I can be my best. I heard a message not to shirk my responsibilities. Go easy on myself. Be in nature. I interpreted this guidance as direction to stop committing so much! Take time for myself, in nature, and feel the joy.
Be in nature. I will find a home in the woods, by the waters edge, where I will live. I have dreamed of this for quite awhile!
Slow down. I will stop committing to so much activity and filling my life with busyness.
Visualize. I will make space for visualizing, and get really clear on what I want to see happen.
Take inspired action. I will know by how I feel, about what is the best next step to take. When I feel joy, the action will be inspired.
Nurture myself. I will take time to be, throughout each day. Instead of rushing from one activity to the next, I will stop and re-connect with my center: align with my values, and feel the joy.
Sylvia, thank you for the awesome reminder that all the answers we need are inside of us. As a coach I know this in regards to my clients, but I sometimes forget when it comes to me.
Your wonderful post reminded me of an experience I had recently. I had this terrible, heavy feeling and I could not explain it, much less know why it was there. To make a long story short, I have these beautiful cards by Doreen Virtue that I sometimes use when I am feeling stuck so I pulled those cards out. Using the cards I was able to slow dow, get quiet, and ask questions in order to understand my feelings a bit better. :)
Whether it's labyrinths, cards, water, being outdoors, I think the key is getting quiet and letting the answers come.
Sylvia, thank you again and well done for committing to you and what you need!!
