I am participating in an initiative that I would like to share with the PeopleJam community. My hope is that my fellow PeopleJammers will find it as intriguing and as meaningful as I do and, as a result, will want to participate in it as well.

In brief, a small group of people from around the world have collaborated to draft a public declaration, called the “Global Citizenship Declaration.” The objective of this Declaration is to take a stand for global interconnectivity, integrity, and personal responsibility. Although this Declaration is still in “beta” mode, it is expected to be launched publicly in the very near future. After the Declaration goes public, anyone in the world will be able to "sign" it, adding their name, birth city, and their own “personal declaration” in support of the Global Citizenship Declaration. The vision for this global initiative is that tens of millions of people will be drawn exponentially to this project, sharing a desire for shifting the consciousness of much of the world’s population as well as a concern for present day trends.

Because I feel that the vision, values, and community “spirit” of PeopleJam are in close alignment with the objectives of the Global Citizenship Declaration, I thought that the members would appreciate a “sneak peek” at this exciting project, recognizing that it still has not gone officially “public.” With this proviso in mind, here is the link to the beta site so you can read the Declaration, understand its intent, and get ready to “sign” it: www.idclr.org

If you agree with the tenets of the Global Citizenship Declaration, I suggest that you bookmark this site! It would be my pleasure to respond to any questions and keep the PeopleJam community apprised of when the Declaration goes public.

Meaningfully, Alex

As one who has always considered myself a citizen of the planet, I am happy to see this initiative! I've bookmarked and will spread to my friends as well!

Hi Apryl,

It's great to have someone who is as passionate about life (and, of course, so prolific!) be a true "citizen of the planet." Thanks for spreading the word about this initiative! And start thinking about your personal declaration (you've probably already written it)!

- Whereas it has become glaringly evident to growing numbers of people that we need to re-examine the underlying assumptions of our collective worldview and adapt new paradigms of thinking (Einstein)

--In your expert opinion, how does McCain represent new paradigms of thought?

To NOT answer your question, I'm not convinced that McCain represents either new paradigms of thought or even paradigms of thought with which I would agree. This said, I'm not interested only in "new" paradigms of thought; rather, I would like to see, as you point out, a "re-examination of the underlying assumptions of our collective worldview" and rely on our "collective wisdom" (i.e., the wisdom of the people rather than simply the power of the people) to chart a more positive future. However, I'm concerned that too many people don't want to do the "homework" necessary to help in this collective process. Instead, we tend to get consumed by either the "will to pleasure" or "will to power" and choose political candidates (for example) for the "wrong" reasons (e.g., they "sound" good, they "look" good, etc..). I hope that you do read my book, as well as my various posts on this site (and my other blogs, such as: http://globaldialoguecenter.blogs.com/meaning/) , in order to get a better idea of my thinking on these various issues.
