My sis, knowing that I am a collector of cool quotes, sent me this awesome one not too long ago...
"It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves." -- Sir Edmund Hillary
A pretty timely reminder considering I have had a few run-ins with a brick wall, ego, self doubt, and fear lately. I raise my hand and admit, I have moments when I forget to get out of my own way.
When I do move aside (which is not always easy) and get really present awesome things happen. For example;
1) New opportunities appear and I go for them.
2) I have more energy.
3) I experience a great deal of happiness.
4) Stress steers clear of me since I am more relaxed.
5) Fear takes a backseat because my confidence is riding shot gun.
My passion and commitment is supporting others in being their very best and having the very best. I am truly committed to changing this world one person at a time, but I can't do that if I am standing in my own way. The trouble is finding ways to move myself out of the way.
I would love to hear from other awesome People Jammers...what do you do to get out of your own way so the cool stuff can come through? I look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions.
-Great opportunities continually popping up.
-More energy.
- A deeper sense of well-roundedness.
- Less doubt.
I've been training as an actor for quite some time now. A fundamental teaching of the craft, which wonderfully applies to life as well is to "get out of your own way."
When you give yourself permission to have fun, to not know what you're going to say, to flop and look silly, to walk into emotional mind-fields, to not stand guard at the gates of your mind and doubt the choice your gut has made, then your acting becomes more authentic, more intriguing and frankly just more exciting to watch.
When the actor is fully invested in moment-to-moment exchanges, discoveries that were never considered before are able to rise to the surface. The subconscious and all the genius stored therein is activated and whatever is really going on gets addressed as opposed to what you think is going on.
Getting out of your own way in life and in art, is one of the most complex yet rewarding things that one can do for him or herself. It opens you up to countless blessings and you become a magnet for your highest good.
Thanks for bringing this up Pam and good luck with your goal!
