I am in good shape, but when I eat sugar - any kind - even fruit, I pick up extra weight.
I will get my six-pack back.
I have become convinced that sugar is evil. Do you remember being a kid and thinking about ways you could get more of it? It's a drug! I think it's where addiction starts, but that's a whole other topic. I recommend a few things... first don't cut it out entirely because you'll yo-yo right back. Instead, either allow small bites or plan it as a reward. Also, try using the natural sweetener stevia instead of sugar.
Sugar is a source of energy, a carbohydrate. When we do not use up this energy, our bodies convert it into fat for storage. Being active helps to burn off excess energy. A little sugar in your diet is acceptable (unless you have an existing medical condition, in which case consult your doctor), but even with moderate intake some proper activity should be included in your lifestyle.
JNS,
How is it going with removing sugar from your diet?
